The New Classic CL Series: What Nocatee Owners Should Know
If your Sub-Zero is this new, the most valuable thing we can tell you is to keep your money in your pocket and call the factory first.
Sub-Zero's New Classic CL series — CL3050, CL3650, CL4250, and CL4850 — launched in late 2022, so units in recent Nocatee builds across 32081 are almost always still under factory warranty. Repairs on covered units belong with Factory Certified Service; we confirm your status free and handle only what warranty doesn't: coil cleaning and hard-water filters.
For independent Sub-Zero repair across Nocatee and the 32081 master plan, call (904) 902-0927 for a same-week written quote or Book online.

CL units are under warranty — start with the factory
The New Classic CL series is Sub-Zero's current built-in platform, launched October 2022 and shipping since early 2023. That timing matters: any CL in Nocatee is young enough to be inside its factory warranty, and warranty work belongs with Sub-Zero's Factory Certified Service. An independent repair on a covered unit can complicate or void the claim — so on a CL, our honest first answer is not "book us."
Here is what we actually do. You call (904) 902-0927 or use the online booking page, we confirm your model and coverage from the serial at no charge, and if you're covered we point you to the right door. Our warranty-versus-independent guide lays out who pays for what, and why we'd rather earn your call later than take a job you shouldn't be paying for now.
The CL lineup, and what makes it new
The CL replaced the Classic Built-In line with Split Climate cooling, an upgraded air purification system, and connected features. Here are the configurations turning up in Nocatee kitchens.
| Model | Configuration | Owner-maintenance notes |
|---|---|---|
| CL3050 | 30" column, single temperature | Coil and filter on the standard schedule |
| CL3650 | 36" over-and-under, freezer drawer | Air and water cartridges, coil cleaning |
| CL4250 | 42" side-by-side | Dispenser and ice path on hard water |
| CL4850 | 48" side-by-side, the largest built-in | Heavier condenser load, six-month coil |
The line between warranty repair and your maintenance
Warranty covers failures. Maintenance covers wear, and wear is always the owner's bill — which means there's a clear, honest space for an independent even on a brand-new CL. The table below is the rule we follow on every CL call.
| The situation | Who handles it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling failure, error code, dead board | Factory Certified Service | A covered defect — the warranty should pay |
| Sealed-system fault (compressor, evaporator) | Factory Certified Service | Long sealed-system coverage on this line |
| Condenser coil cleaning | Us, or the factory — your choice | Routine maintenance, never warranty work |
| Water and air filter changes | Us, or DIY | Consumables, owner responsibility always |
| Out-of-warranty repair, years from now | Us | Our diagnostic-first model takes over |
The maintenance half is real and worth doing. Nocatee water runs 14–28 grains per gallon, so CL filters need the same shortened interval as every other generation here — the filter service page explains why the twelve-month sticker doesn't hold in 32081. And the coil cleaning Sub-Zero recommends stays your responsibility whether the unit is one year old or ten.
Why honesty here is the whole point
Nocatee was built in waves, and the newest streets — recent Seabrook Village and Twenty Mile deliveries — are where CL units cluster. Those owners are the most likely in the master plan to be told, by someone less scrupulous, to pay for a repair the factory would have done free. We won't be that someone. Coastal Oaks broke ground in 2006, so we know exactly how this plays out: today's CL is tomorrow's out-of-warranty unit, the way the BI generation it replaced now is.
So we treat the CL page as a referral as much as a service page. Keep your maintenance with us if you like — coil, filters, the annual once-over that is yours to schedule regardless of coverage — and let the factory handle anything that smells like a defect. When the warranty finally lapses, the diagnostic-first approach we run on every Sub-Zero in Nocatee will be waiting, and we'll already know your kitchen.
Is your CL still covered? A quick read
Coverage is the first thing to settle on a CL, because it decides who you call. This is the rough shape — your purchase paperwork is the final word.
| Your CL situation | Likely status | Who to call |
|---|---|---|
| New build or remodel, 2023–2026 | Full parts-and-labor coverage active | Factory for any defect; us for maintenance |
| Cooling fault or error code, under coverage | Covered defect | Factory Certified Service — no charge from us to confirm |
| Sealed-system issue (compressor, evaporator) | Long sealed-system coverage on this line | Factory — sealed-system terms run years past labor |
| Coil cleaning or filter change, any age | Never warranty work | Us, or DIY — owner maintenance always |
Read your model and serial off the rating plate when you call (904) 902-0927; we confirm coverage at no charge and route you to the right door — the warranty guide spells out the line in full.
Maintaining a CL's newer systems
The CL added Split Climate cooling, an upgraded air purification system, and connected features — but the owner-maintenance list stays short and stays yours.
| Maintenance item | Interval in Nocatee | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Condenser coil cleaning | Every 6–12 months | Construction dust near new villages mats fins fast |
| Water filter cartridge | Every 6–9 months | 14–28 grain water spends a cartridge early |
| Air purification cartridge | On the model's schedule | Keeps produce longer; a true consumable |
| Door gasket wipe-down | Every few months | Year-round humidity hardens neglected seals |
None of this touches the warranty — it's all owner-responsibility maintenance — so doing it through the annual checkup keeps a covered CL in spec without ever risking the claim.
What the CL changed, and what stayed the same
The New Classic replaced the BI line with new cooling and connected hardware, but the parts of ownership that actually reach a Nocatee household — the maintenance, the hard-water reality, the honest warranty line — barely moved. Here is the side-by-side.
| Aspect | Classic Built-In (BI) | New Classic (CL) |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling design | Often a single shared evaporator | Split Climate — separate evaporators per side |
| Air purification | Air cartridge present | Upgraded air purification system |
| Connectivity | None | Wi-Fi fault alerts and app features |
| Warranty status in Nocatee | Out of coverage on most installs | Almost always still covered — factory first |
| Owner maintenance | Coil and filters on the 32081 schedule | Identical — coil and filters, unchanged |
The bottom two rows are the whole point of this page. The mechanism changed; your job and the water didn't. A covered CL goes to the factory for any defect, while its coil and hard-water filters stay yours — and when coverage finally lapses, the diagnostic-first approach we run on the BI generation it replaced applies to your CL too.
CL series questions from Nocatee owners
How do I know if my Sub-Zero is a New Classic CL unit?
The rating plate inside the fresh-food door shows a model starting with CL — CL3050, CL3650, CL4250, or CL4850 in column, over-under, french-door, and side-by-side builds. The line launched October 2022 and reached kitchens in 2023, so if your Sub-Zero is part of a recent Nocatee build or remodel, this is very likely what you own.
If you are independent, why are you telling me to call the factory?
Because it is true and it protects you. A CL unit is almost certainly inside its factory warranty, and that coverage pays for the repair while independent work on a covered unit can jeopardize the claim. Routing you correctly costs us a job today and earns the call when the warranty ends. That trade is the whole basis of how we work.
What does the factory warranty on a CL unit actually cover?
Sub-Zero's coverage on this generation is generous: full parts and labor for the first couple of years, with sealed-system components — compressor, condenser, evaporator — covered far longer. The exact term depends on your purchase paperwork, so check it. What it does not cover is routine maintenance, which is where an independent stays useful.
Is there anything on a CL unit you can legitimately do right now?
Yes — maintenance, which is the owner's responsibility no matter who made the unit. Condenser coil cleaning on the manufacturer's six-to-twelve-month schedule and filter changes set to 14–28 grain Nocatee water both fall outside warranty repair entirely. Doing them with us risks nothing and keeps the warranty work, if it ever comes, rare.
When the CL warranty runs out, will parts and service be there?
They will. The CL is Sub-Zero's current flagship platform, so parts support runs deep and will for years. When your coverage ends, the diagnostic-first, written-quote approach we use on every other generation in Nocatee applies to your CL too — and by then we will already know your kitchen from the maintenance visits.
What is Split Climate cooling, and does it change how the CL is maintained?
Split Climate is the CL's dual-evaporator design — the fresh-food and freezer sides each get their own cooling circuit and airflow, which holds humidity and temperature more precisely than a single-evaporator BI did. Maintenance doesn't change: it's still coil cleaning on the six-to-twelve-month schedule and filters on the 32081 interval. The mechanism is new; the owner's job is the same.
My CL is connected to Wi-Fi and flags a fault in the app — do I call you or the factory?
While it's under warranty, a fault is the factory's call — the app alert is exactly the kind of covered-defect signal Factory Certified Service should handle at no cost to you. What the app won't flag is maintenance: a coil due for cleaning or a filter spent on hard water. Those are yours regardless, and that half is where we help even on a brand-new connected unit.
How is the CL different from the BI it replaced, mechanically?
The headline change is Split Climate — the CL gives the fresh-food and freezer sides their own evaporator and airflow, where most BI units shared a single evaporator. That holds humidity and temperature more tightly and changes how a side-only complaint is diagnosed. The CL also carries an upgraded air purification system and connected features. For the owner, though, the maintenance list is unchanged: coil and filters, on the 32081 schedule.
If I am buying a Nocatee resale with a CL unit, does the warranty come with it?
Sub-Zero's coverage follows the unit, not the owner, so a CL in a recent Seabrook Village or Twenty Mile resale generally keeps its remaining term. Bring the serial number and the home's closing date to the conversation — coverage usually started at the original install or closing. We flag this on resales constantly, because more than one buyer has nearly paid out of pocket for work the factory still owed.
